Global consumer confidence index rose by one point to 92 in the 3rd quarter compared to the 2nd quarter of 2012, and increased by 4 points compared to the same period in 2011, a Nielsen study claimed.
The last wave of the study showed an index growth of 30 of the 58 markets (23 in the previous quarter) and downfall on 19 markets.
According to the survey, Ukrainian consumers are fed up with the negative news. For the first time in the last 15 months there has been a growth in the consumer confidence index in Ukraine: in the third quarter of 2012 it was 69 points (+4 vs. 2nd quarter 2012). The number of respondents who estimated the state of personal finances of Ukrainian as good or excellent increased to 36% (+7 points compared to 2nd quarter), 22% of consumers believe that now it is the right time to spend (+4 points). At the same time, eight out of ten (84%) respondents in Ukraine are negative about the outlook for the labor market.
The main items of expenditure to free funds for Ukrainian consumers are to buy clothes (33%) and repair / decoration of the house (30%). However, 29% of respondents prefer to save the remaining funds after basic expenses (+2% compared with the 2nd quarter). Moreover, among the sources of concerns job security came first (19%), followed by health (14%) and the economy (13%).
